Introduction to Christian Mysticism and the Mystical Jesus

Presentation:  September 15, 2007

Edward B. Alcott, Ph D

Brief Description of Presentation

This series begins by explaining the classic terms found in Christian mysticism. It then proceeds to the problem of the existence of God, the indirect/direct ways of faith development, original sin, the two egos and the seven classic stages of the faith journey.  Jesus is seen as the prototype of the Christian mystic in that his life represents the journey of obedience, carrying one's cross and surrendering to the will of God. His life in his human nature follows the purgation, illumination and union stages found in the mystic way.
